DESCRIPTION: The Esperanza Center Health Services Clinic (ECHC) provides free medical and dental services to immigrants in the metropolitan Baltimore region who do not qualify for health insurance and who do not have the economic means to pay for health care. The clinic, which is operated on the second floor of the three-story center, offers no-cost quality primary and preventive care for adults and children. Services are provided by dedicated volunteers and staff, in partnership with Johns Hopkins Medical Institute, on both walk-in and by-appointment basis.

DESCRIPTION:The Family Stability Program is a nationwide initiative to prevent homelessness. Located at Arlington Elementary School in Baltimore City, families work with a case manager to assess the family’s strengths, set and work on goals to connect the family with community resources, develop job search skills and receive short-term financial assistance so the family can remain housed and the children can succeed in school.

DESCRIPTION: Our Daily Bread Employment Center is looking for groups to join the Hot Meal program, providing the casseroles that help to feed more than 700 people who come to us each day for a hot meal. Many parishes and other groups are already involved in this critical task – we’d be happy to help you find an existing group or start a new one! Preparing casseroles is also a great way to give back as a family, and teach children the importance of volunteering. High school student? Preparing casseroles for Our Daily Bread will help satisfy your service learning hours requirement!

DESCRIPTION: Senior Support Services offers residents a helping hand to continue living independently. Daily meals and weekly housekeeping, laundry and personal services provide a little bit of assistance that can go a long way. At most sites, the senior nutrition program of the local Area Agency on Aging (AAA) contributes to the meal program. Services are catered to the needs of the individual and various service packages are offered to support aging in place. A subsidy is available to those eligible.

DESCRIPTION: As part of Villa Maria School, Skills for Success is a strength-based behavioral training program for youth and adults. Services are for children and adolescents, ages 5-17, who experience behavioral or emotional challenges in several areas. The goal is to build resilience and improve the child’s behavior and performance at home and in school by teaching him or her appropriate social skills and coping strategies.
