Many of the donations we receive are in honor of or in memory of someone special. Whenever the donors request it, we like to create a tribute page for the honoree. This group of colleagues from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers brought us such a great letter about the person they are honoring, we’re publishing it below as their tribute.

In recognition of Mr. Robert F. Gore, Deputy Chief, Planning Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District (retired), the enclosed donation is provided by the undersigned [and pictured] employees of Planning Division. After 34 years of Federal service, Mr. Gore recently retired from the Baltimore District where he leaves a legacy of helping others and mentoring employees and co-workers. We believe there is no better way to celebrate that legacy than by helping Our Daily Bread continue to meet the needs of people in Baltimore.

Throughout his career with the Corps, Mr. Gore was instrumental in transforming our professional and personal lives while remaining strongly focused on meeting the missions of the Corps. He taught us that while the work we do and the careers we build are important, they do not define us. We have a responsibility to help others along the way.

Mr. Gore embodies the Army values of Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage in the most literal manner.

In recognition of Mr. Gore’s legacy, please accept this donation in the spirit it is intended. It is our hope this will help provide opportunities for others. Thank you.
