Robert worked hard through his adult life to build a life he was proud of. After losing his once stable job and unable to secure new employment he began to abuse alcohol to cope with the loss. His downward spiral began from there and Robert says eventually “I found myself with no money, nowhere to live, and nothing to eat.”He came to Our Daily Bread for a warm meal and was referred to an employment counselor for assistance finding work. After meeting with his counselor and discussing his goals, he was referred to Christopher Place Employment Academy. Once enrolled in Christopher Place, Robert found the support and tools he needed to rebuild his life. “I needed the structure of the program, support with my substance abuse recovery, and a fresh start in life,” he says.
Today Robert’s life has turned around and he is committed to making his future brighter than his past. “It is only by the grace of God, the commitment of people who truly desire to help others, and the support of my peers that I have a second chance at life. Today, I am a student at the University of Maryland School of Social Work where I am pursuing a Masters Degree. I credit Our Daily Bread and Christopher Place for my new life.”
