Week after week, Dennis Chisholm, a retired General Electric engineer, volunteers for Anna’s House, Catholic Charities’ family shelter in Harford County. “I’ll sort and date the cans in the pantry, paint rooms, fix downspouts, and clear gutters,” said Chisholm. “The most challenging task thus far was painting the kitchen which is used by four families at a time during the course of a day.”
“I do this work because I want to give back,” he added. “Now that I’m retired, I am not going to sit at home watching TV or reading the paper. At Anna’s House, I am helping individuals gain shelter, food, and support.”
