Question of the day, for runners and walkers everywhere: What motivates YOU to achieve 500 miles?
Christopher Place (CP) Employment Academy partners with Back On My Feet (BOMF), a national non-profit that uses running to help those experiencing homelessness change the way they see themselves so they can make real changes in their lives that results in employment and independent living.
This morning, CP resident and BOMF teammate Josh achieved a milestone – he has now run 500 miles with Team CP! Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday mornings, and Monday nights, you can usually find Josh on the pavement, aiming to run at least 4 miles with his teammates.
“I never realized how much of an influence people can have on my life,” Josh said, upon acceptance of his 500-mile award this morning.
He received a framed inspirational quote, the book Born to Run, orange chocolate cookies and the “Golden Sneaker” in honor of all the runners he’s journeyed with in the past six months – including those who have come and gone from BOMF.
