Sister Eileen Davis is the coordinator of the Pastoral Care program at the Jenkins Senior Living Community. For eight years, she has offered spiritual care to the residents, families, and staff of St. Elizabeth Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, St. Ann Adult Day Services, Caritas House, and DePaul and Joachim Houses.
Sister Eileen has been a Daughter of Charity for more than 64 years. She began working for Catholic Charities in 1968 as a nurse counselor at Villa Louise which was a home for unwed mothers. With a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master’s degree in counseling, she was a wonderful resource for the young women.
She later moved to Florida but returned to Baltimore to care for her mother, who currently resides at Caritas House and just turned 100-years-old.
Sister Eileen loves the daily interaction she has with the residents. “It’s always beautiful to hear about their lives, hopes and dreams. I’m honored to be walking with them in times of sadness or transition. I walk with them so they feel surer and connected.”
The close bonds she develops with the residents and their families is a priceless gift to Sister Eileen. In addition to her Pastoral Care role, she is also a member of the Leadership Team and she leads a portion of the orientation session for new employees.
When she isn’t working, you can find Sister Eileen in the kitchen because she loves to cook. . .especially soup.
Stacey Kozlowski, Director of Community life at St. Elizabeth, says, “Sister Eileen is a great asset to all of us at Catholic Charities. Her years of experience and dedication enrich the lives of everyone that she comes in contact with. She helps people stay in touch with what really matters in life. It’s my pleasure to know and work beside her.”
