Aaron Kennedy, volunteer coordinator at Our Daily Bread Employment Center, reviews volunteer assignments with Senior Housing employees Michael Jolley, Barbara Nehms and Alison Chapman.

What began as a one-time volunteer experience has turned into a quarterly tradition for some of the employees in the senior housing division.  On April 20 a group of housing employees volunteered at Our Daily Bread, their sixth time serving lunch at the hot meal program.

Dale McArdle, director of the Division said, “I wanted the staff to get to know Catholic Charities and the many programs we operate so we spent one morning volunteering at Our Daily Bread. They all enjoyed it so much that we decided to make it a regular occurrence. It’s good team building and makes us all feel good.”

Ardath Johnson, housing development program manager has enjoyed having the opportunity to volunteer. “I am grateful to work with people who also want to help others and more importantly with a man who is willing to give his entire staff the gift of time out of our busy schedules – to cherish the divine within.  I get more out of the experience than I give,”  she says.
