The Neighborhoods at St. Elizabeth Rehabilitation and Nursing Center provides a comprehensive array of individualized rehabilitation and nursing services, including short-term rehabilitation, skilled nursing, long-term, and memory care. In the 2020 Maryland Health Care Commission survey, 93% of our families surveyed said that they would recommend St. Elizabeth. Ratings for satisfaction with Staff and Administration of the Nursing Home, and of Care Provided to the Resident, both scored at 3.6 out of a possible 4, exceeding the statewide average. When asked about the COVID-19 pandemic, 98% of families felt they received timely information from St. Elizabeth directly; and, 98% were very or extremely positive about how St. Elizabeth responded during this challenging time.

Elders are intimately involved in creating tailored programs and are supported through the talents of our specially trained staff. In addition to focusing on the medical needs of Elders, the staff at St. Elizabeth is also passionate about providing holistic care by attending to spiritual and emotional needs, as well.

At the Neighborhoods at St. Elizabeth, our goal is to help Elders thrive while reaching their highest potential physically, socially, and emotionally. To accomplish this, we utilize a method of caregiving known as Elder centered care. Elders are truly at the core of everything we do and play an integral role in developing their own daily rhythms of living. Elders and their families partner with staff to develop individualized programs of care. Just like they did at home, Elders decide when to sleep and rise, when to dine and how to socialize. Although this approach to care may sound simple, it represents a radical change from traditional hospital-based models of efficiency. As a result, St. Elizabeth Elders enjoy more autonomy and a happier, more meaningful life.
The Neighborhoods
St. Elizabeth is composed of five unique neighborhoods. Each neighborhood features a beautiful & accessible open-air space, a family oriented living room, a cozy hearth, and a spacious dining room. Consistent staff assignments mean that Elders and staff truly get to know each other and build meaningful, warm relationships. Through daily interactions and close partnerships, Elders and staff easily become a community. Every neighborhood is overseen by a dedicated Neighborhood Guide who acts as a liaison and advocate for each Elder.
Clinical Care
Care at St. Elizabeth is managed by a board certified, fellowship trained Geriatrician and Geriatric Nurse Practitioner. With an office on-site, the Geriatrician is easily accessible to both Elders and their families. A full clinical support team including nurses, geriatric nursing assistants, dietitians, and rehabilitation therapists are also available to provide expertise and clinical oversight.
Pastoral Care
Pastoral care is considered a vital part of St. Elizabeth. We offer daily Catholic Mass, continuing the tradition of the founding Daughters of Charity, as well as weekly interdenominational services. A full-time Chaplain, Pastoral Care Director and their staff provide over 700 visits per month, supporting the spiritual & emotional needs of Elders and their families.
The Grounds
Situated on over 26 acres of pristine land with a spectacular view of the Baltimore skyline, The Neighborhoods at St. Elizabeth provides beauty and serenity out each window. Every tree and plant are intentionally placed to bring color and attract birds and butterflies year round. Elders and families enjoy peaceful moments spent in one of our many courtyards as well as large gatherings in our four season pavilion. Ideally located near I-95 and a metropolitan hospital, St. Elizabeth has all the conveniences of a major city with the feel of a quiet countryside.
Clinical Care

Socialization & Leisure
At The Neighborhoods at St. Elizabeth, Elders are encouraged to participate in life-long pleasures as well as explore new opportunities for learning and engagement. Our staff will take the time to truly get to know each Elder personally and will plan leisure and learning opportunities based directly off of each Elders personal desires. Organic socialization between Elders is easily achieved through our unique neighborhood design. Elders are able to form relationships through shared meals and gatherings. Families are always invited to spend time with their loved one and often find themselves building new relationships of their own.
Spirituality
St. Elizabeth views spiritual and emotional health to be just as important as medical health. For that reason, we have established a full-time Chaplin and on-site Pastoral Care department who provide daily mass, as well as group and personal visits. Elders and their families are invited to attend a mass or spend quiet time in our beautiful two-story chapel any time they desire.
Q. What is the process for admitting my loved one to The Neighborhoods at St. Elizabeth?
A. Our admissions team will address all of your initial questions, and will guide you through a simple screening process to help us determine how we can best serve your loved one.
Q. What insurance is accepted?
A. The Neighborhoods at St. Elizabeth is happy to accept qualifying Medicare and Maryland Medical Assistance as primary insurances. We also accept several third party insurances to help offset the cost of applicable co-insurances or co-payments. Our friendly business office will also work with families who prefer to pay privately for their care.
Q. What is skilled care?
A. Skilled nursing care focuses on maintaining the highest level of health possible as well as rehabilitation and skilled nursing services.
Q. How much does it cost?
A. Costs vary depending on the room style and individual care needs of elders.
Q. What should my loved one bring when moving into St. Elizabeth?
A. Because St. Elizabeth is truly a home, we encourage all elders to bring items that will enhance their comfort. Your loved one should bring seasonally comfortable clothing and pajamas, shoes and slippers. Although it is not required, many elders take comfort in bringing pictures, quilts, pillows and other small personal items from home as well.

Noah’s Place is a 30-bed memory care neighborhood committed to meeting the special needs of elders with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia-related disorders. Our memory care programs provide a holistic approach to serving elders, embracing the philosophy of person-centered care that organizes daily activity around each elder’s schedule. We provide enhanced programming and specialized staffing for elders that are designed to maximize their dignity and independence.

It is very common for physicians to recommend additional rehabilitation following a hospital stay to ensure that Elders have the strength and independence needed to return home safely. The staff at St. Elizabeth views reconditioning and strengthening as vital components of achieving the highest quality of life. Rehabilitative therapy is centered around the individual needs and goals of each Elder. Strength and endurance training take place in our gym or spacious rehabilitation atrium. When the weather is nice, some of your rehabilitation may even occur in our specially-designed rehabilitation courtyard allowing you to practice mobility on different gradients and textures. Activities of daily living (like bathing, cooking and laundry) are not just simulated but are actually practiced in a true-to-life setting. These diverse rehabilitation experiences promote Elder confidence and, ultimately, independence.

When an Elder has reached his or her goals and is ready to return home, our skilled Elder Advocate team will take care of all the details to ensure a seamless transition back home.

To me, perhaps the most sacred and precious gift of all is that invitation to journey with another through their dying process. When curative measures are no longer deemed effective, many people transition through death with a philosophy of care commonly known as “Hospice.”
No longer is a specific symptom the focus of care but rather compassionate care is extended to the whole person. Hospice, while addressing medical needs, is also addressing the spiritual, social and emotional needs of each individual and their family. Hospice provides comfort and dignity so each person can live their life to the fullest, respecting and encouraging their independence at all times. It creates an environment that allows for life review and for validation of that life lived.”
