Irma cannot cook for herself and maintain her housekeeping due to severe arthritis. While living with her son, she was isolated and had very little interaction with anyone. St. Luke’s Place offered Irma an affordable, one-bedroom apartment plus the Senior Support Services Program, a Congregate Housing Services Program (CHSP) subsidized by the Maryland Department of Aging.
The Senior Support Services Program now provides the meals and housekeeping and personal assistance that Irma needs to remain living independently, at a cost she can afford. The combination of housing and services creates an appealing and affordable solution, and allows this low-income, elderly woman to age-in-place.
