It was a warm and sunny day when employees from various Walgreen’s locations descended on Abingdon Senior Housing to assist residents with their gardens. About twelve volunteers arrived with a tiller, tools, fertilizer, plants and lots of enthusiasm. They were joined by residents, each of whom has their own plot.

Employees of the Walgreens located on Abingdon Road wanted to volunteer at the nearby senior housing building. They knew the residents had a garden but it was in need of some care.

At the end of the day, thirteen additional plots were prepared and planted with an assortment of vegetables and flowers. The senior housing building now has twenty resident garden plots and many thrilled residents.
