(Baltimore – March 12, 2020) – At Catholic Charities, the safety and security of those we serve, and of our colleagues, volunteers and visitors, is paramount. We do not turn away individuals who need assistance we can provide. However, we are implementing deliberate policies, procedures and guidelines to prepare for and prevent spread of COVID-19. This is part of our organization-wide, program-by-program operational planning for continuing services in emergency situations.
Our organization is actively engaged and monitoring the situation globally, nationally and locally. We use guidelines and alerts from the Centers for Disease Control, World Health Organization, and Maryland Department of Health. All organizational programs subject to city, state or federal regulations—such as Caritas House Assisted Living, Gallagher Services, Head Start and Early Head Start, St. Elizabeth’s Rehabilitation and Nursing Home Center, Weinberg Housing and Resource Center, etc.— are adhering to and complying with those regulations as specified. Programs that work in locations owned by entities other than Catholic Charities are also consulting and/or deferring to those entities’ practices to ensure safety and health.
You can find updates as they happen on our special webpage, cc-md.org/covid19. The menu on the right side of that page will keep you posted on notices of visitor, volunteer and service limitations or disruptions as they may occur.
Thank you for being our community partner in keeping all of our neighbors as safe and healthy as possible.
