Addiction is a pervasive challenge that may complicate the lives of the people we serve. That’s why Catholic Charities is enhancing its behavioral health services with an integrated substance use treatment initiative.

To implement that critical initiative, Catholic Charities is pleased to welcome Karen Lilley-Haughey, LCSW-C as its new administrator of Behavioral Health Services.
Haughey joins Catholic Charities from the University of Maryland Medical System Health Plans, where she has served as the senior director of Behavioral Health and Special Needs since 2014. Previously, Haughey was vice president of Clinical Operations for ASAP, Inc., an employee assistance program.
“I am excited to bring someone aboard with such a wide range of experience and demonstrated leadership skills as we continue to grow our behavioral health work,” said Catholic Charities Family Services Division Director Kevin Keegan.
Haughey will also serve as a member of the division’s executive team and will lead Villa Maria Community Resources, a behavioral health program that includes 12 clinics in Baltimore City and seven counties across Maryland.
“I am thrilled to be joining Catholic Charities as administrator of Behavioral Health,” Haughey said. “Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to work with numerous interdisciplinary teams where I was able to provide direction and forward thinking to develop person-centered care leading to successful outcomes. I look forward to joining such a dedicated, compassionate group of professionals where we can collaborate and continue making a difference in the lives of others.”
The substance use treatment initiative is part of Catholic Charities’ strategic plan, aimed at developing a comprehensive resource that supplements and enhances what Catholic Charities already provides through outpatient behavioral health services.
Haughey assumes her role on Oct. 1.
