As full-time volunteers with Project SERVE, a year-long service-learning opportunity sponsored by AmeriCorps and Catholic Charities, we are called to serve at the Esperanza Center, My Sister’s Place Women’s Center, Our Daily Bread Employment Center, Sarah’s House, and St. Vincent’s Center.
We serve because we are connected to all of the people on the Earth through our common humanity. We serve because we have a passion for social justice and the enthusiasm to help in any way we can. We serve because we have learned that through serving others, we inevitably discover new and exciting things about ourselves in relation to the world. We serve because we seek to develop a true appreciation for the lives we have been given.
The intentional community aspect of Project SERVE allows us to mutually support each other’s service, including discussing the struggles, triumphs, and lessons that we encounter at our given sites.
