Executive Director Bill McCarthy gets in character by wearing a moose hat during a reading of If You Give a Moose a Muffin to Head Start students in recognition of The Week of the Young Child. In addition to leaving the book and hat for future use at the early childhood education program, McCarthy brought raisins for the children.
Other readers at various Catholic Charities Head Start sites throughout the week of April 10 included Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake; Burnette Rahmaan, Assistant Coordinator of Preschool Programs-Health, Baltimore City Head Start; Barbara Bartels, Assistance Coordinator of Preschool Programs-Education, Baltimore City Head Start; and Catholic Charities employees Amy Collier; Mark Greenberg, Yvonne Vojik, and Jean Shacklette.
The annual initiative to encourage reading at an early age is sponsored by The National Association for Education of Young Children.
