These marvelous individuals are of all faiths, ages and ethnicities, and together, we improve the lives of over 160,000 individuals and families. We prepare and serve over 500,000 meals a year to people who depend on us for a daily hot meal. Every day, at more than 80 programs at 200 locations throughout Maryland, Catholic Charities of Baltimore is there to help.
Why do we do this—and much more? It’s because we really are inspired by the Gospel mandates to love, serve and teach, work for justice and to improve the lives of Marylanders in need. That is our Mission and we live it.
Our Values impel us to welcome everyone who comes to us seeking a better day and a better life. Every woman, man, and child comes to us with an immediate need, and without regard to their circumstances, we open our doors and our hearts.
Catholic Charities of Baltimore serves children and families, people living in poverty, individuals with intellectual disabilities, immigrants, and seniors. Our services address immediate needs as well as support and preparation for independence and full lives. With compassion and a standard of excellence second to none, we continue a legacy of charity that began with the establishment of the Catholic Church right here in Baltimore in 1792.

How do we measure our success? How do we quantify the results of our efforts?
We look at many factors, but here are a few highlights of how your support of Catholic Charities reduces poverty and improves the journeys of Marylanders in 2018…one person at a time.
- 404 people found permanent housing
- 335 people found jobs
- 534,126 meals were served to those in need
- Safe Streets of Sandtown-Winchester intervened in 515 incidents, preventing them from becoming violent
- 56,422 individuals received emergency an/or case management services
- 135,887 bed nights were provided for individuals without a place to sleep
- 571 unaccompanied minors were reunited with family or sponsors
- 3,358 immigrants received health care at our clinic rather than using emergency rooms
- 228 adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities called a Gallagher Services residence home. On average, 65 worked in a paying job, vocational work, or vocational training at some point in FY18.
- 96% of students at St. Vincent’s Villa made progress in reading, math, and social-emotional goals
- 98% of our Head Start children were deemed as meeting expectations and/or being fully ready for kindergarten
- We offered homes to 1,724 low-income seniors or seniors in need of help to live independently
- 208 older adults received congregate housing services
- 375 older adults were served by the Answers for the Aging program
- 9,680 people, including children, received behavioral health care
- 87% of adults and young adults showed improvement in their mental health after receiving care
- 7,852 volunteers gave 203,980 hours in service to our programs and initiatives
