My name is Luisa Lopez. I’m from Honduras. I came to the USA in 1999. When I got here, I didn’t speak any English. It was very difficult for me to communicate with people because I was working with only American people.
But three days later, my cousin told me about the Apostolado Hispano. That was the name in that time. He asked me, “Do you want to learn English?” My answer was, “Yes.” But, he was like it’s going to take time for you to learn another language and, it’s not that easy. So, anyway, he brought me here to the Centro de Esperanza. I started right away just listening and trying to put words together. And, every word that I was learning, I was very happy to know.
In 2006, I got married. My husband is North American. And, I think that what I know is all about the opportunity these people at the Esperanza Center gave to me. I also want to thank these people who have kept the doors of opportunity opened to people who are interested in learning English. And, more other opportunities. Thank you.
