“Just think,” said Our Daily Bread Employment Center Program Director Lee Martin. “Mark Ingram scored three touchdowns on Sunday, and on Monday he was volunteering at Our Daily Bread Employment Center!”
The Ravens running back and teammate Marshall Yanda spent Sept. 23 at Our Daily Bread as part of the United Way of Central Maryland and the NFL’s Huddle 100 – a day of service throughout Baltimore in honor of the NFL’s 100th anniversary.
“This must be the first time a marching band and cheerleaders have ever been in our dining room,” said an amused Martin, who welcomed the fans and players to create toiletry kits and write notes of encouragement as part of the Huddle 100 Caw to Action. It was a good way to bring some powerful purple to what was otherwise a blue Monday, after a tough defeat at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs.
