Margaret Knott Riehl (1934-2018) believed that every person deserved to be loved and treated with dignity and respect. She embodied the vision of Catholic Charities of cherishing the Divine within every person. She was known as a “selfless woman”, who was inspired by her Catholic spirituality to give to those in need. She was also generous beyond measure and saw herself as a humble volunteer, who baked and delivered desserts for the guests of My Sister’s Place each and every month. She quipped that the guests could always tell the difference between homemade desserts and those that are store-bought. She and they recognized that homemade were always best. And giving the best of ourselves is something she always believed in.

In honor of Margaret Knott Riehl ‘s birthday, we are asking for donations of items of greatest need to be dropped off on Monday, January 24th.  If you prefer to make a monetary gift, please see the donation form below.

  • Foot warmers
  • Clothing (all sizes; new)
    • underwear
    • bras
    • sweatshirts
    • thermal clothing
    • thermal socks
    • pants (sweatpants, comfortable pants, jeans)
    • shirts
  • Light weight sweat suits (jogging suit for summer)
  • Athletic shoes
  • Raincoats/rain ponchos
  • Umbrellas
  • Water bottles/jugs

Drop-off Instructions:

Please drop off items on Monday, January 24th, from 1pm to 4pm at the 411 Cathedral Street entrance. This is the only open entrance at this time. Please ring the doorbell to let the staff know when you arrive. If you cannot make this time, please contact Julie Martin, jmartin@cc-md.org, to make alternative arrangements.
